This is a tour of the unique area of Apokoronas, the East province of Chania region. The purpose of this tour is to introduce the visitors of this island the pure side of the Cretan mainland. Tour around the villages, meet the locals, taste delicious local product and learn everything of Crete’s history, culture and traditions.
Following a route through the nature and traditional Cretan villages you will arrive in Kalyves and visit an olive mill, one of the two mills that extracts the olive oil in the traditional way. After a tour at the facilities with analytic descriptions, olive oil tasting will take place. Then we will drive to Gavalochori village and visit the folklore museum of Apokoronas.
Leaving Gavalochori, driving towards Vrises village we will visit a traditional winery. You will take a tour of the winery yard, the botanical garden and then the wine production and storage area to learn all the secrets of production and bottling. Then you will try 5 different wines accompanied by delicious Cretan rusks and olives from the winery’s garden.
Our last stop is Fres village, where you will enjoy your lunch in a traditional “kafeneio”.
